konishewah Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I was trying to produce Iron oxide through electrolysis. I used an old dc converter for an electric train set I had, a nail (that had rust on it already) on the anode. NaCl was the electrolyte. Well......the solution went from colourless to bluey greeny. After I wiped off the cathode (it was changing colour also lol! a kind of steely orange) I restarted the process, the solution was now turning orange. What the hell is going on?
