ksuppal Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 i was told i can find out the carbonation in a soda by holding a balloon over it. I wanted to know if you shake the soda. If you don't shake it nothing comes out. and also is whatevers in the ballon the carbonation.
YT2095 Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I`m guessing you mean the CO2 gas in a fizzy drink? put the balloon neck over the bottle neck to form a seal and then try to liberate the gas locked in the liquid. you will indeed to "Wake" this gas up, shaking is good, but I must tell you that you will need more than one balloon unless it`s a small soda bottle. with a dress makers tape you can measure the circumference of the balloon and height and work out a Rough aproximation of the gas volume from that.

I had originally suggested measure the volume by water displacement.
