I`m guessing you mean the CO2 gas in a fizzy drink?

put the balloon neck over the bottle neck to form a seal and then try to liberate the gas locked in the liquid.

you will indeed to "Wake" this gas up, shaking is good, but I must tell you that you will need more than one balloon unless it`s a small soda bottle.

with a dress makers tape you can measure the circumference of the balloon and height and work out a Rough aproximation of the gas volume from that.

also, don't shake up and down, but rather side to side, otherwise, you'll get liquid in your balloon.

I had originally suggested measure the volume by water displacement.
