Redux Posted December 19, 2006 Author Posted December 19, 2006 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4137990.stm Thanks, I read it before. That's good, but it's not enough . %)
Aardvark Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Hi Perhaps you could be a bit more specific, what aspects are you looking at? What sort of information are you interested in? If you like PM me. I'd be happy to give you my personal impressions from living in a multicultural community.
Redux Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 Does anyone know if there are any documents which guarantee the policy of multiculturalism? How government influence on situation and support the policy? Are there any special departments?
JohnB Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Redux, you might try here, http://www.direct.gov.uk/AdvancedSearch/SearchResults/fs/en?NP=1&PO1=C&PI1=W&PF1=A&PG=1&RP=20&SC=__dgov_site&PT1=discrimination&Z=1 There should be something there on the UK Government website. Another option is here, http://www.labour.org.uk/ourpolicies In Australia we have an "Office of Multicultural Affairs", but it doesn't look like the poms have anything with a similar name. It's highly doubtful that any document exists guaranteeing Multiculturalism (MC). Support for MC would be a policy of a party. While that party was in government then there would be support for MC, but as soon as they lose an election the policies of the new government come into play. There is also the factor that a political party can change it's policy on a particular topic. Whatever law a party in power may pass, the opposition may repeal if they win the next election. I hope that helps a bit.
Redux Posted January 9, 2007 Author Posted January 9, 2007 Sorry for long absence. JohnB, thank you very much.
