YT2095
After reading this: http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24240 thread. it addresses a question I`ve been pondering for some time, the Idea of a "DC" or "flatline" photon from a PM. if you had two shaped explosive charges with a VOD of 7000m/s each with a front load of a NIB magnet and set to smash both of these magnets into each other at ~ 14Km/s. with a suitable pick-up coil nearby, I predict you should get a White Noise EM spike. if we take 300,000 and divide this by the 14 we get 21,428.6, so this spike should appear around this wavelength. does this sound feasible? insane_alien
yup, been thought of, been made, has a 1337 sounding name. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explosively_pumped_flux_compression_generator not as powerful as a nuclear EMP but its still enough to take out electronics and it doesn't have the nasty effects of a huge blast wave and radioactive fallout. Rocket Man
i'm not sure i see the resemblance, tossing two magnets together isn't quite the same as powering a pulse magnet from an explosively pumped flux compression generator. interesting find, insane_alien. perhaps it's possible to make it non-destructive. YT2095
I`ve actualy got Very similar plans to that device here (IA and I discussed it in IRC) so thats probably why there seems to be a gap. Try shooting Very magnetised nails out an air-gun down a plastic tube with a few 1000 copper windings on it and watch the spark it seems gappy cos half the chat took place elsewhere, appologies for that.
