Bettina Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Can someone top these ones found in a carefully labeled storage cupboard at work. "Assesories" "Battery Charges" And my personal favourite, "Vaccumme" Yes, "These ones" Sorry, I couldn't resist... (“this one” should not be pluralized to “these ones.” Just say “these.") Bee
Heretic Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Yes, "These ones" Sorry, I couldn't resist... (“this one” should not be pluralized to “these ones.” Just say “these.") Bee THE TOPIC IS SPELLING NOT GRAMMAR
Klaynos Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Of course the people writing these things could always be dyslexic... http://engrish.com/ makes a good read
Bluenoise Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Can someone top these ones found in a carefully labeled storage cupboard at work. "Assesories" "Battery Charges" And my personal favourite, "Vaccumme" Not really. That's how I typically spell battery, is it wrong. Or do you mean that they added charges after it??. And accessory? is that right. I think there's a c in there somewhere... For those of us extreemly spelling challenged, please have some pitty.
Bettina Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 THE TOPIC IS SPELLING NOT GRAMMAR Sorry to make you so mad. It was just a joke between me and JohnB. Bee
Tetrahedrite Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Can someone top these ones found in a carefully labeled storage cupboard at work. "Assesories" "Battery Charges" And my personal favourite, "Vaccumme" I don't know whether you did it on purpose, but you have also spelt "labeled" wrong.
ydoaPs Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I don't know whether you did it on purpose, but you have also spelt "labeled" wrong. No, he spelled it incorrectly. In your sentence, "wrong" modifies "have 'spelt'". "Wrong" is and adjective, and as such, cannot modify a verb. You need an adverb, such as "incorrectly."
Tetrahedrite Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 No, he spelled it incorrectly. In your sentence, "wrong" modifies "have 'spelt'". "Wrong" is and adjective, and as such, cannot modify a verb. You need an adverb, such as "incorrectly." I thought the very same thing as I posted it, but decided I couldn't be bothered changing it to "wrongly" or some such thing. edit: you can probably understand why I'm having so much trouble writing my PhD dissertation, and why I'm procrastinating on SFN!!
ydoaPs Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I thought the very same thing as I posted it, but decided I couldn't be bothered changing it to "wrongly" or some such thing. In case you didn't catch the quotes, you also spelled "spelt" incorrectly.
Tetrahedrite Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 In case you didn't catch the quotes, you also spelled "spelt" incorrectly. No, I didn't...... Spelt is in the (Australian) english dictionary.
Tetrahedrite Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Australians don't even know American! Well colour me pink, you're right, I specialise in sucking at spelling. I just don't like the flavour of it. Or of aluminium. (Now I'm labouring the point a little).
Dak Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Yes, "These ones" Sorry, I couldn't resist... (“this one” should not be pluralized to “these ones.” Just say “these.") Bee hehe... when i read that, i assumed it should have been spelt 'thees' "Wrong" is and adjective... an adjective
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Wait... you're correcting someone's spelling?
Phi for All Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 That's how I typically spell battery, is it wrong. Or do you mean that they added charges after it?I think it was supposed to be "battery chargers". Kind of tough to leave a charge laying around. I've heard the biggest Spelling mistake was casting Shannon Doherty in Beverly Hills 90210 (sorry, my company's HQ is near Hollywood and I have to hear these jokes). (Now I'm labouring the point a little). In the USA (not "America") we prefer management. We take the Aussies and put "U" in labor.
husmusen Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Spynal Meninjitus. Ecleptic seizures. Mofin (Think about it a bit) I've probably just made JohnB scared of going to hospital. husmusen
Dak Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Wait... you're correcting someone's spelling? ooh, the iruny
JohnB Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 [Note to self] Carfully cheque spelling and granma befor posting where Bettina can sea it. [/note to self] May the Gods preserve me from the rampant floccinaucinihilipilificatrix. I don't know whether you did it on purpose, but you have also spelt "labeled" wrong. Well bugger me mate, so I did.
