Insects that stay on water?

 

Unless I'm mixing it up, you can touch water with your finger and if you are really, really soft you don't get wet. You can make a lightweight pin "float" on surface tension of the water. it has to be perfectly parallel to the surface, otherwise it breaks the tension and sinks.

you ever put a bit of paper or cloth just so one edge is just touching the water? you'll see it get damp above the water line, this is capilary action and is caused by surface tension.

Here is the experiment I was talking about. And, yes, forgot about capillary :)

 

Just add wicks and paper towels to previous.
