andie Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 if an electron was released from rest from the negative plate, what is its speed right before it strikes the positive plate? How to solve it ? Does anyone know a formula to solve it ?

Klaynos Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Investigate the effect of a potential applied to a charge.
swansont Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 How you solve it depends on what information is given. The kinetic energy it gains will be qV, and you can get the speed from that. If you know the field and separation, you can calculate the work to get the KE.
