m4rc Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I assume that you mean how do you calculate mechanical work. If you apply a force to move an object then the work done will be the product of the force and the displacement of the object. W=Fd (if F and d are in the same direction. It can be more complicated if the force and displacement are in different directions, in which case: W=Fd cos(theta) where theta is the angle between the force and the displacement.
