Guest Hugh Man Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Ok, this is my first proper post. If you could pick a new seven wonders of the world what would they be ? I know that we understand how the pyramids were built now but what would be tantamount to the pyramids today, what would deserve the title of a wonder of the world.?
ecoli Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 certain skycrapers, bridges, me, the human genome project, plastic...
Pangloss Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Interesting. Why don't we limit this to structural achievements, just for the sake of discussion? They hold the most direct visual alignment with the historic "wonders of the world" phrase. I would say those islands off the coast of Dubai would probably count.
weknowthewor Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 For me Akram Vignan. The science of self realization.. Do visit it.. I liked a lot
Guest Hugh Man Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 certain skycrapers, bridges, me, the human genome project, plastic... ecoli, i was looking for a specific example but the pearl bridge in Japan is very impressive, not sure if it would be a wonder of the world ? Panama Canal Large Hadron Colider The world islands and maybe the pearl bridge well theres three definite choices so just four more the world islands is an immense project
Royston Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Now this is a freaky coincidence...and I know full well that my house-mate is unaware of this, hence I thought he should pose the question to you lot. A friend at work has just informed me, that they are actually asking for votes for a new 'Wonders of the World'...anyway please take a look at the link below. http://www.new7wonders.com/index.php EDIT: Perhaps for the sake of the thread, if anyone else is still interested, we should pick engineering feats of the last couple of decades...I think he was looking for more contemporary examples.
