I have to do an independent lab for my adv. inorganic class and was wondering what yall thought would be the coolest to do. Do yall have any suggestions?

Thanks,

I have no idea what advanced mean in your case but a easy and fun show off experiment is some variant of oscillating reactions, like the iodine clock reaction.

The first thought that might occur in the audience heads is how the oscillations can be consistent with the second law of thermodynamics. Then one can follow up with a brief description of the kinetic equations and show how the entropy production is not violating the 2nd law in despite the oscillatory behaviour.

Or an explosion of some kind. Or synthesis of tasty marshmallows. How about electrolysis using silver nitrate creating a bunch of silver metal would be cool.

i know you can make silly putty(polymer of silicone), but is there any other inorganic polymers that you can make that are somewhat interesting?
