Skye Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Most countries have a mixture of methods for appointing officials of government. Oz has a hereditary monarch within the legislative Parliament, as well as meritocratic appointments of the Governor-General (who is part of both the legislative and executive branches) and the judiciary as a whole, and the popular election of representatives within the houses of government.
john5746 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Alright then, why not? Why not force democracy on others? I didn't say not to, just that it is a different question than thinking it is the best system. Having said that, I don't think we should invade countries in the name of democracy, which we have never done. We can encourage, but not force, IMO.
Haezed Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 What can I do? Nobody wanted to have an actual serious discussion. ";)" Heh. No worries.
