Can anyone give me any tests with situations and responses, to measure aggression?

Hello.

Does anyone know where I could find a professional measure of aggression that shows a situation and asks the taker to pick the response he would do, and his response is measured on a scale such as 1-5?

Something like:

A man steps on your toe, do you

A: Do nothing

B: Tell him off

C: Hit him

that type of thing.

I've been searching for so long all I could find was aggression scales like http://www.prenhall.com/divisions/hss/app/social/addchap6.html

now go away damn you! before I come over there and make you Famous!

No i meant like a situation which is potentially hostile and it shows a number of specific responses, and the taker of this question must pick the response which he feels he would most likely use.

However you gave me that word "quiz" and that helped me searching, i found this http://healthresources.caremark.com/topic/angerquiz1 it is more appropriate but still no good. I need one that I can reference(like the "Aggression Questionnaire (Buss & Perry, 1992)" alluded to earlier). Also, only one of them(the driver one) is representive enough of the general public(not everyone has teenage son etc.) and it uses too [something i can't explain in words currently] language like "That jerk thinks he's better than everyone else. I'll teach him a lesson!".

Glider is probably the best one to ask about that sort of thing then.

I`m not sure if he`s on here during the weekends though, so maybe send him a PM (Private Message) and ask :)

I'm afraid I can't be of much help here. I don't know of any agression questionnaires that follow the format you're after. I think the problem might be that agression is a behaviour rather than a personality trait, and it's very tricky to get valid and reliable measures of behaviour using questionnaires.

There are plenty of questionnaires that measure hostility, which is a personality characteristic that would result in agressive behaviour, but that's probably not what you're after.

Interesting, I'd never thought of it like that.

So that means we should say that a person has a hostile personality rather than an agressive personality?

(Sorry for the derail, but it is an interesting distinction.)

Essentially, yes. Hostility is a personality trait, agression is a behavioural manifestation of hostility, either verbal or physical (both are behavioural).
