weknowthewor Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 i have a radio having am and fm. while listening to am, when an automobile starts, i hear some noise, this is notthe case with fm, is there any principle behind this???
YT2095 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 FM Will pick the same noise as well, IF it were operating in the same band (<2MHz).
Externet Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Sparks, spikes and electrical noise from an automobile engine are changes in amplitude or amplitude modulation AM Changes in amplitude are ignored by a frequency modulated FM receiver. Miguel
YT2095 Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 they are NOT just changes in Amplitude (sorry and all that) this type of interference is White Noise, and therefore Frequency Modulated too.
