Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I'm wondering if anyone can confirm this: if you burn some "ward" papers, put it into water and then spray the mixture around the house - is that gonna be a health hazard?

My mother's into some kinda Chinese mysticism or whatever, and this is supposed to create a protective barrier or something.

I don't think fine ashes of burnt paper sprayed with water around the house is gonna be harmful, but I wanna make sure.

Besides, I have no idea what kinda dodgy material those "ward" papers are made from. Will try to find out though.

"Ward" as in protection or "ward" as in hospital wing? I wouldn't touch unknown paper from a hospital with *your* ten-foot pole (mine's being varnished at the moment), even if it was burnt.

with "normal" paper the liquid will contain mostly potassium carbonate and hydroxide, when sprayed the Hydroxide would react with the CO2 in the air and convert that to the carbonate also.

K2CO3 is quite harmless, although it may leave white marks on things.

Thanks mates :).

Phi for all: Ward as in those magical charms. Guess it's harmless paper.
