Here's the original thread http://www.sciforums.com/showthread...&threadid=16877
amoda Posted January 20, 2004 Author Posted January 20, 2004 here is the thread that i got it from that has the link to the original thread. I'm sorry if this is the wrong thread it just look as if there was a bit of topics on the brain so i posted it here. Btw i thought of cucumber. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if this is a real test or a time waster. Thanks!
VendingMenace Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 i thought of squash first...tasty squash...mmmm..... but right after squash i thought of carrots...weird cool thread man!
Sayonara Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I came up with "marrow", but I think that's actually a fruit. Well, it has seeds. Fruit or veg? Dunno. What's the significance of the carrot then? Is it "extra sixy"?
amoda Posted January 20, 2004 Author Posted January 20, 2004 some people tried to explain it by saying the the > reminded them of a carrot for some reason. One person kept talking about the "shadow mind" i think that he's talking about the sub conciounse (sorry about spelling) and that the 2% of people who didnt say carrot is that they dont think about them much. I said cucumber and i dont think about that much either so i dont think that he is right. Anyway i dont have a clue why this works and im wondering if any one does.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Is a turnip a vegetable? That's what I thought of! (I did one before with colors, so I knew to choose weird. With the colors, I chose char-treuce to screw the statistics) I'm from the 2%!
greg1917 Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 As soon as I saw what the thread was all about, I was expecting it to ask something along those lines. When asked to think of a vegetable, I had a complete mental blank and struggled to think of a single one. Carrot was indeed the first thing that entered my head.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Always think of the weirdest you can when you see a mind trick like that!
VendingMenace Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 kinda defeats the pupose of the trick, if you "try" to beat it. After all you really arn't competing with anyone...you are just seeing something cool about your mind :/
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I, of course, didn't see anything cool. I defeated the purpose!
Gampin Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I said strawberry, but it's not a vegetable nor is it carrot. Yes!
amoda Posted January 20, 2004 Author Posted January 20, 2004 whats weird is that it works. Alot of people say carrots hmmm...oh and most of the 2% say cucumber this really is weird.
-Demosthenes- Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I thought of cucumber? Maybe it has to do with the kk sound? And Carrot is the most commonly eaten kk sounding vegatable?
fafalone Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I thought tomato, then while I scrolled I contemplated the merits of why its classified as a vegetable instead of a fruit since it has seeds.
VendingMenace Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 it is not classified as a vegitable. It is calssified as a fruit -- at least biologically speaking. Of course when you walk into a grocery store you find it in the vegitable section most of the time. But hey, its just a store. Then again, if you want to get really picky, then there is no such thing as a vegitable. THere are fruits, tubers, legumes, rizomes, roots, ect. But NO vegitables. The take home message? The next time your mother tells you to eat your vegitables, tell her no! If she gets mad, then say, "you are the one asking for impossible things." That oughta go over well.

Sayonara Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 So basically, whereas 98% of people usually say "carrot", most of us picked fruits. \o/ Welcome to the cray-zee house.
YT2095 Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 well, after I managed to convince Satan to leave me alone after chanting 666 for a while. I thought of Potatoe. the actual trick your trying to do should be based around the number 24 not 6 the association then runs along 24, as in "carrat" gold. nice try though
greg1917 Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 So why does it work with 6? or was I the only one that thought of a carrot in this example?
blike Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 greg1917 said in post # :So why does it work with 6? or was I the only one that thought of a carrot in this example? Because shift + 6 is the symbol called "carrot".
YT2095 Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 6+2 4+4 2x4 10-2 do you feel hungry? No, I just eight
atinymonkey Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I thought of onion. 666? Maybe carrot is the vegetable of the beast?
YT2095 Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 it is, read post #163 onwards in thread: http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1593&perpage=50&pagenumber=4 you`ll see it`s all about food for the beast, it motivates them!
amoda Posted January 20, 2004 Author Posted January 20, 2004 does any1 know where to get other tests like these? They look pretty interesting.
