smig Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 During my homework I came across a question I am not sure how to answer: In experiment 1 there is: 2cm strip of Magnesium An Acid in a beaker In Experiment 2 there is: 4cm strip of Magnesium An acid with twice the concentration of the acid in experiment 1 The acid has the same volume Now in these experiments would the Magnesium react faster in experiment 1 or 2. And Why? Thanks in advance!
insane_alien Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 well, what does the rate of reaction depend upon? in this case there are two things.
smig Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 which experiment will dissolve Mg faster? 1 or 2?
insane_alien Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 do you expect us to just tell you? thats not going to happen. you need to THINK. what is it that could affect the reaction? there are two factors involved. a hint is that both get changed.
