igores Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Hello everybody, I'm writing an essay about "Myoadenylate deaminase deficiency" for my Molecular Biology class. I looked up for it on the net, but what I could find was a short and incomplete explanation on Wikipedia with no figures and a few articles in which the disease was mentioned with no real focus on it and no details. What I'm looking for is: - Summarizing the clinical manifestations of the disease - The gene responsible and its mutations responsible for the disease - The normal and aberrant functioning of the protein product and some interesting facts and a few figures (like the AMP deaminase enzyme, a histology slide showing the effect of the disease on an effected muscle tissue, etc.) (If the figures are colored, then ) Could anyone help me out with this? Thanks in advance;) , igores
Prewitt Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 i'd suggest reading this if what you find with google ain't enough: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=pubmed&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=AbstractPlus&list_uids=10658174&query_hl=1&itool=pubmed_DocSum
CharonY Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Actually it is funny, as I was lamenting the use of wikipedia only recently. Anyways, if the review is not enough and you got a decent library in your vicinity I'd pick up e.g. medical text books on inheritable diseases. Most of them are well written and well illustrated.
