MishMish Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 Sayonara, would be more amusing if Bush were not so dangerous Jadote, thanks for the correction
TheCorinthian Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 The problem is not that George thinks he's chosen by God or that he thinks he's the Pope-by-proxy; the problem is that the whole nation was founded by people who were (by today's standards, anyway) devout christians, so traditional christian religious ethics are inextricably linked to the constitution and laws of the country. (by the way - hello everyone, i'm the Corinthian, and this looks like a not-entirely-terrible forum site you've got here)
TheCorinthian Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 You win a tiny amount of self-satisfaction, but I win the even greater self-satisfaction of knowing that my reputation has preceded me. Hmm....'Sayonara'....that rings a bell somewhere. Aren't you the chap who's behind Armada Wars, or something?Have we met?
TheCorinthian Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 Hey, somewhere in the distant depths of my memory, I seem to think that this was a thread about some kind of issue. Has one side of the debate vanished?
Sayonara Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 No, it just moved to the General Science forum.
JaKiri Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 What's this about discussion? We'll have no trouble here

-Demosthenes- Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 I think it should be illegal. It's immoral. People say that the goverment can't govern morals, but that's what our laws are. You can't commit murder, that's based on a moral. You can't steal from people, that's a moral. That's all that our laws are. It's not discrimination, that's when you judge someone unfairly by how they look or a characteristic that they can't control. People are Judged everyday on there merits, how they act, and other things, that's not discrimination. These people are not fit to make their own decisions in their lives. These people have destroyed themselves through excessive immoral behavior, and need help. Do you let someone who is a danger to himself hurt himself? No. Same here, these people are not thinking clearly and can't be trusted to make sound decisions.
fafalone Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Please respond to the difference between legislating morality when two consenting adults choose to do something with their private lives vs. murder, robbery, rape, and other crimes involving non-consenting parties.

Right wing hate-mongering prejudiced extremists like you are a threat to the freedoms this country was founded on.

I'm not sure exactly which part of him thought it would a good idea to quote his own post from another thread in which he was beasted for posting rhetorical nonsense, two days after being beaten with the "spam and irrelevancies" baton, but I'm betting it's the bit that is farthest away from his self-preservation gland.
fafalone Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 What, you really expected him to actually read a thread to see what arguments had already been presented?
Sayonara Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 To be honest I was expecting an insane full-frontal fundamentalist assault. It must be starting to boil over by now. /Krakatoa
-Demosthenes- Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 "Right wing hate-mongering prejudiced extremists like you are a threat to the freedoms this country was founded on." I don't hate anyone.
atinymonkey Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Hate means hostility, indisposition, animosity, dislike, distaste, hostility, scorn, disfavor etc. So, yes, if the view you posted is your view on homosexuals then you hate homosexuals.
Sayonara Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Moreover, hate-mongering is the act of promoting hateful agendas. I'm thinking that post qualified.

Still haven't gotten that answer.

Sayonara Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 He missed off the word "-mongering". See reply #146.
YT2095 Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 "Hate means hostility, indisposition, animosity, dislike, distaste, hostility, scorn, disfavor etc. " according to whom? hate and dislike seem to be entirely different things in a dictionary. as does distaste indisposition! and why is hostility mentioned twice?
