wolfson Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 Electrophoresis investigates the interactions between molecules native and SDS-PAGE and DNA footprinting, which i would call structural. As for the filter in this process filtration is not worth the bother as for time and money, autoclaviing is the most effective in both cost and time.
YT2095 Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 well my intial instinct would have been with autoclave too, super heated water seems to be a more effective way, in fact the only non chem way that I know of that may sterilise something, I was just wondering if this filter was something I didn`t know about or had heard of, and that made me willing to learn some new stuff
wolfson Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 Yer they are usually 0.2 and 0.1 micron rated sterilising grade filters that are affective, for small quantities not litre(s), they have been around for a while, and do sterilise (to BS grade).
wolfson Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 Oh and i think the best ones are called Durapore membranes filters.
YT2095 Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 K00l/\/e$$, that`s a 1`st I`de ever heard of such a thing (not being a bio chemist and all). charz
