nerdy Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Why is it that when a hole in a canal is lower, the water gets pushed out further? and the higher, the water gets pushed out closer?
Glider Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Assuming I understand your question correctly, it's due to pressure. The water coming out of the lower hole has more water on top of it (and water is quite heavy), so it comes out under higher pressure. The water at the higher hole has less water on top of it and so comes out at lower pressure.
