E coli question

one model to induce sepsis is to treat macrophages with LPS from E-coli.

but we have many E-coli in our gut, why macrophages do not atack that E-coli and their LPS?

Let me hint at the answer. Where does sepsis occur? Accordingly where would macrophages attack E. colis?

Yups. With exception of pathogenic invasive strains and maybe lesions in the gut epithelia.
