bored_teen
i have an 80GB storage unit, and i had a few questions as to the potential applications of it. my idea is to partition it and put an OS on it. in theory, i could use my storage device, then load the OS and use applications off of it (internet, games), without school/library/wherever having record of my using them, or the internet history. as i said, this is my theory. would it work, though? Klaynos
That really depends on the motherboard and bios settings, it could work, but then again if it was my network, it wouldn't work and if I found out anyone trying to do it I would be DEEPLY annoyed... A live CD would be more likely to work and save you alot of time... And is probably lighter/easier to carry.

insane_alien
google knoppix. that crams as much as possible(and then some) onto a CD or DVD. quite amazing what you can find on one of those.

insane_alien
encrypted ssh tunnel would work. unless they block all encrypted traffic that is.

Rasori
My school was the same way. They used firefox. Very easy to enter a manual proxy. See if there's any workaround like that for you.
bascule
You could always carry around VMware and a VMware image.
