jaya Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 hi please tell me whether necrosis or apoptosis takes palce in pancreatic beta cells when it is destroyed by streptozotocin. If it is through the apoptotic pathway please clarify whether it is through the intrinsic or extrinsic pathway
konstantin Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 actually I did not get, what do you need? you ask about what methods you can use to detect apoptosis or necrosis hapen in your cells...if apoptosis you want to know and prove through what pathway? is it like that? I am investigating apoptosis in keratinocytes....induced by UVB...
raptor Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I think they're asking whether it is apoptosis or necrosis in that specific case. edit: From wikipedia it looks like the streptozotocin is absorbed into the cells like glucose by GLUT2 where it causes DNA damage, and the cell responds by apoptosis. p53 reacts to severe DNA damage by triggering apoptosis, I think this is part of the intrinsic pathway but I'm not sure.
