insane_alien Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 I was just watching the news and that thing about the Human Pampillo Virus vaccination in 12-year old girls came up. I was actually quite shocked by the arguements put forward by the people opposing it. The arguments can be summed up in one sentence: The moment the needle touches her skin, your daughter will become a hooker and sex addict. Instead they want to preach abstinance. none of this makes any sense. I doubt the people who approve these sorts of things would let it be released if it caused this and there is no medical reason why it should. If kids think this means its okay to have unprotected sex, then they don't know enough about sex and we should give them more sex ed. saying 'sex is bad, don't do it.' is either going to drive them to do it anyway or make them think there is something wrong with them beause they get the urge. how can this be allowed to affect a treatment that can save the lives of thousands of people and protect thousands more from suffering and millions more from the chance of suffering?
Royston Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 I was actually quite shocked by the arguements put forward by the people opposing it. Who's opposing the vaccine though...members of the public ? I totally agree with the rest of your post, just sounds like a slippery slope argument (by the opposers.) Do you have a link to the story ?
insane_alien Posted June 22, 2007 Author Posted June 22, 2007 it was on the tv. can't find a link to the footage shown though. it was some group of parents opposing it.
