kitkitkit
This may seem simple, but what would i see if i heated 4g of copper and 2g of sulphur in a test tube together?
JaKiri
Cu2S doesn't mean a 2:1 ratio in the masses.
kitkitkit
O.K, what would i see if i just heated any ratio of copper and sulphur in a test tube.
YT2095
with an excess of sulphur, you`de get a crude copper sulphide. copper oxide and sulphur`s usualy the best way to go though, and finely divided particles too it`s a very beautiful colored crystaline structure if you do manage to do it though, well worth the effort! (esp if you have access to a microscope do it outside though eh!
kitkitkit
O.K, Would would the "vigorous reaction" look like.
YT2095
it`s not at all vigourous, it`ll froth and bubble a little, but that`s largely just the Sulpher turning to liquid and boiling pretty much the same way as water does, but a little more viscous, you can quite easily do it in a 50 ml pyrex boiling test tube without danger again, do it outside though! the stuff stinks like satans armpits!
