Pangloss Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Just as it was starting to look like NASA was overcoming an awfull 2006, this painful story breaks. Apparently the investigation into the Lisa Novak incident (the astronaut who got involved in a love triangle and ended up stalking another NASA employee) produced another startling revelation. Not only did some astronauts fly drunk, but NASA knew this and covered it up. http://www.business-standard.com/common/storypage_c_online.php?leftnm=11&bKeyFlag=IN&autono=25959 I still think NASA has undergone significant change since 2003, and deserves a chance to carry out its new program for lunar and martian manned exploration. But it appears they have a few more internal problems to resolved first.
ecoli Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 As I understand it, this story comes from an unverified source, and it is still unknown to what extent the story is actually true.
geoguy Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I watched 5 minutes of the Nasa press conference Talk about tedium to the point of tears. Bureaucratic mumbo jumbo. Nasa just doesn't get it anymore. Even CNN switched off half way through. no one could figure out what was actually being said. Nasa, once an inspiring agency has morphed into.... YAWN.
bascule Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 So is this a new kind of crime? Shuttling Under the Influence?
gxlundgren Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 No doubt NASA has some problems that need to be worked out. Lets hope that this incident, if true, is an isolated one.
ParanoiA Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 I don't know...drinking brew on the space shuttle is kinda like getting a hummer in the oval office...you can't really blame a guy for tryin
Reaper Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 One of these days there will be a shuttle accident if they keep flying while drunk. I charge the accused with F. U..............i
Pangloss Posted July 28, 2007 Author Posted July 28, 2007 I don't know...drinking brew on the space shuttle is kinda like getting a hummer in the oval office...you can't really blame a guy for tryin I've always wondered if there's a "Hundred Mile High Club".
MangoChutney Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 drinking brew on the space shuttle is kinda like getting a hummer in the oval office As long as you don't have your finger on the "button" it's ok isn't it?
