Dc Nilbog Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Hi again, I am writing a Chemistry report once again and I need some assistance from you. I am having trouble on answering some of the questions. Questions: 1) Why is acetylation of the amine group useful in organic synthesis? 2) Explain why the amine group and its acetylated derivative are ortho/para directors. 3) Aniline cannot be nitrated directly with the usual nitrating mixture of the nitric acid/sulphuric acid because considerable charring takes place. Write equations to show how you might prepare p-nitroaniline from aniline. I have searched around 'Google' but couldn't find anything. Thanks for your help. Dc Nilbog Problems solved. Thanks. Closed.
