DiggerJohn Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I am working with gold, looking for all info. i can get on the reaction with gold ?
Darkblade48 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I was led to believe that hydrochloric acid does not attack (pure) gold directly, and could only attack it when an oxidizer was present (hence the reason why aqua regia works)
YT2095 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 it will complex with Cyanides too, but I think you`re safer with Aqua Regia to make your Gold Chloride
nitroglycol Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 Suppose you were to electrolyze HCl solution with a gold anode. Would that work?
YT2095 Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 it Should do, I can`t see any reason why not, although it will start to plate out at the cathode fairly quickly, and long before it gets anywhere near to being a strong soln of gold chloride.
