StasN Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Hello everybody, I am a student of Chemistry Faculty of Ireland Pharmaceutical University and I am seeking information of based chemical components used in pharmaceutical industry. For now I found the following resource pharmacy only. But it seems to have a bit information to me. Please let me know official web resources which describe pharmaceutical chemistry. Thank you.
insane_alien Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 uhh, there are literally millions of chemicals used. idoubt there is any one website that lists them all. it seems you attend a fictional university as well, just to let you know. which is probably why you haven't looked in the university libraray for this information.
StasN Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 Thank you. I will go to our library. May be I am not a good student
insane_alien Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 good luck at your imaginary university.
insane_alien Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 ahh so you'll be able to point it out in this list then? http://www.unixl.com/dir/university_and_college/ireland/
DrDNA Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Maybe he/she wants to make some imaginary drugs.
insane_alien Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 well, that'll only get you an imaginary high and et you put in an imaginary mental hospital. or thats what you'll think anyway.
John Cuthber Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Is this the weird university that only lets people in if their names start and end with a capital letter? Also, are imaginary drugs placebos?
DrDNA Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Also, are imaginary drugs placebos? Absolutely not! They are not the same thing at all. Placebos often illicit real responces in real people, while imaginary drugs only illicit imaginary responces in imaginary people. I know this because my imaginary friend, who just so happens to be an imaginary medical doctor, told me.
StasN Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 Thank you all, I found another resource ( Medic Info ). It has more information that I need.
John Cuthber Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I realise that placebos are real (in a sense) I just wondered about the other way round. Could an entirely imaginary drug work; my guess it that it would, by the placebo effect.
iNow Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I realise that placebos are real (in a sense) I just wondered about the other way round. Could an entirely imaginary drug work; my guess it that it would, by the placebo effect. While the placebo effect is a valid and empirically verified phenomenon, it does not apply in all contexts. Depression or pain, sure. However, more significant health issues, no. Case in point, AIDS. Imaginary drugs in cases like these have no impact on the overall course of the disease, and there are serious ethical implications to not treating someone with actual medicines... or worse, treating them with imaginary ones.
