Crash Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 im guessing its HCl?, if so the CaCO3 is being turned into Calcium Chlroide,with carbon dioxide gas and a bit of good ol H2O for good measure. Correct me anybody if im wrong but thats what i get the impresion of for whats happining here

The egg shell is made out of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and the dilute acid (lets just say hyrdochloric acid, although it doesn't really matter), reacts with the shell to give three products calcium chloride, carbon dioxide and water. This is summarised below CaCO3 + 2HCL------>CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
