Ice_Phoenix87 Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 I was making copper sulfate, for some reason it turned blue over night :S i need help lol
Ice_Phoenix87 Posted February 21, 2004 Author Posted February 21, 2004 soz i meant it turned green from blue.
YT2095 Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 as I said in another thread, the magnesium hydroxide has displaced the copper, you now have your original starting electrolyte and load of green Copper Hydroxide
Ice_Phoenix87 Posted February 22, 2004 Author Posted February 22, 2004 now it turned black i did it agian but for longer, it has stayed blue. yay!! finally.
YT2095 Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 splendid now see if ya can work this one out, I made the copper hydroxide from the mag sulphate, washed and dried it. I`ve been re-cycling sulphuric acid and hydrogen peroxide from a synth that only uses the sulphuric as a catalyst. it put the green powder in , it turned red/brown and fizzed alot, anyway, it ate all that was left of the powder, and when I put raw copper wire in it, THAT STARTED fizzing too!? now I have a lovely deep blue soln, most the raw copper has been eaten away, and sulphuric acid does NOT DO THIS!!!??? so what the hell have I made??? LOL
