lbhagchandan Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 i need to make up a real ecosystem for my environmental science assignment. I have no idea on where to begin from.. can anyone smart overhere help me out ? btw if u dont know what an ecosystem is, then here is the definition: An ecosystem is a natural unit consisting of all plants, animals and micro-organisms in an area functioning together with all the non-living physical factors of the environment.
Fred56 Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Anything: a jar with some mouldy stuff in it, a pond, the area of damp earth under a rock, is one of the very things you seek.
lbhagchandan Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 Hey thanks Fred, but can u like draw me a little diagram on how to really do it. Aren't there supposed to be real animals in it?
Fred56 Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 If you had a good enough microscope you could keep track of the ecosystem in a drop of water. With something like a pond, there's more work. But you could try something small and easy to observe (maybe an ant farm or something). Is it meant to be portable?
