JesterArts Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 This is my online shopping list: Free graphing calculator (open source?) all the bells and whistles, capable of most anything mathematical. Online mathematics course, free. Brings you from intermediate to advanced, in most math forms. Finally got the time to learn! Thanks.
insane_alien Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 scilab is good. though it isn't really a calculator perse, more of a programming environment. if you know how to compile source then try some of these(or just use a linux distro) http://www.gnomefiles.org/subcategory.php?sub_cat_id=48
JesterArts Posted October 20, 2007 Author Posted October 20, 2007 Thanks. Tell me...I find with many things I've undertaken to learn, once you get so far into it, things start to become second-nature, and climbing levels in skill is not so hard. I've found this true in 3d and vector art. Could the same be said of mathematics, or is it always a pain?
insane_alien Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 in mathematics there is always somethng so far ahead of you it is incomprehensible. the stuf you find difficult now will become extremely simple for you with time(oh for the simplicities of multivariable calculus) but there always be something that you'll never understand.
JesterArts Posted October 21, 2007 Author Posted October 21, 2007 Good enough. Thanks a lot! I suppose the universe would get boring pretty quick if it were other than you say.
insane_alien Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 maths is plenty boring as it is. i hated that class. i only use it as a means to an end. it had me wondering why the hell i picked an engineering course and not some arty farty course where i wouldn't even have to do addition.
