If i have the Ksp of sodium benzoate(a sald of the WA benzoic acid), how do i find the Ka of benzoic acid?

Posted

As an example:

CH3COOH(aq) + H2O(l) <> H3O+(aq) + CH3CO2-(aq)

Ka = [H3O+][CH3CO2-] / [CH3COOH]

as for Ksp:

MmXx(s) <> mMn+(aq) + xXy-(aq)

Ksp = [Mn+]m[Xy-]x

You need to transpose the Ksp as laid out to formulate the Ka, you should have all values.

You should get a value of 6.28e-5.
