CutthroatX Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I love Biology but I have never heard these terms before. I know what photosynthesis is but what are the differences in the two processes? And don't worry about getting to technical I think I'll be able to understand anything you throw my way.
foodchain Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I think this link should do you just fine. http://www.emc.maricopa.edu/faculty/farabee/BIOBK/BioBookPS.html
CutthroatX Posted October 29, 2007 Author Posted October 29, 2007 Thanks, Unfortunately I will need to make some time in the next couple days to sit down and read it (School takes up most of my life right now).
thedarkshade Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Nowdays scientists use different kind of expressions to refer to the same thing, and this makes it confusing. I think that these two concepts that you mentions are the light-depended and the light-independent phase. The first one requires the presence of the pigment clorophyl, which has the ability to attract light rays. The light dependent phase happens in granums (which are a group of thylakoilds put one on top of other), and the light independent phase happens in the space between granums, and that space is called stroma. I hope this is usefull. DraZ
