Zero point energy?

During my recent research endeavors I came across an intriguing concept; that of zero point energy. I have spent hours attempting to learn more and gain a better grasp, however I cannot find any reliable unbiased web sites from which to gather further information. If anyone could provide a reliable site or elucidate on the topic it would be much appreciated.

ZPE is often hyped as a perpetual energy source (there's no evidence to support that) so that's the context of some previous discussions
