gouzai Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I'm chinese college student. Now, I'm looking for language exchange partner who is native speaker of English. I want to do speaking practice. So, I plan to use Windows Live Messenger and microphone when we talk. If you interested in this language exchange, feel free to mail me. I'd be grad if you write profile and what do you want to study about chinese language. more details about me pls see http://www.italki.com/t000684325.htm
Phi for All Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I normally disallow posts by new joiners asking for private mail contact. This seems fairly straightforward though and I think it would be a great opportunity for someone interested in learning and teaching. If you do contact gouzai please be cautious and courteous and make certain this request is legitimate. This is *not* an endorsement from the Staff and I would love to hear how this worked out.

I am actually studying Chinese now, so not only will I be happy to speak English with you, I'd love it if you return the favour and speak Chinese with ME! I must be frank, though, I'm not a native English speaker so my english isn't as great as the others, but for speaking and grammar, I'm pretty decent. MSG me on the forum if you want - the website you gave asked for registration and something went wrong with mine (I'll try again tomorrow). cheers, ~moo
iNow Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Hey there. I am actually studying Chinese now Do you have any pointers for a native English speaker who is beginning Chinese in the spring? Whether high level suggestions or detailed tips, I'm flying blind here and could use a little guidance.
mooeypoo Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 None, and not because I don't want to -- it's because I don't take a Chinese course at school, I'm studying with a friend and with Pimsleur disks. That's why I was looking for another person to speak to and practice.

I too have used a few of the Pimsleur disks, but all I know how to say is: "I speak a little Chinese, but not very well. Do you speak English?" I'm looking forward to the class, as learning to read the characters is exciting to me as well. Cheers, and good luck. As Phi mentioned above, please let us know how this goes if these exchanges between you and the thread starter happen.
