mcprincess86 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Hi, I'm doing an experiment where I have to analyze and determine the concentration of H2O2 in creme hair bleach. Any suggestions on what to do??? I have to actually perform the experiment, so simple, inexpensive methods would be preferrable.
YT2095 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 that`s simple enough, 1`st you`ll have to dilute it with plain water, say 1:10 would be a nice figure, it also releases the cream like texture to make it more motile. then you need to add a fixed amount of this say 100ml to an arbitrary quantity of manganese dioxide (MnO2) in an airtight vessel that that is connected to a gas syringe. measure the amount of gas given off in CC`s multiply this amount by 10, that will Then tell you how much gas 100ml of the pure cream will give. using the Gas law in reverse you know then how many mols of gas 100l will make, compare that to pure H2O2 and your derive your concentration
