swansont Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 It seems like everyone is ignoring a basic factor here. We're living, intelligent creatures. I'm no expert on nuclear fusion, dark matter, dark energy, entropy, or thermodynamics, but no one really is. We get curious, find something out, and do something that was thought impossible just a year ago. It's just what we do! I know that, even if it takes a billion years, and even if we can only sustain one planet, we can keep things going. We just need the knowledge. As for this talk of breaking the laws of physics, think of this as an example. Gravity is supposed to draw us to earth, but a rocket weighing 56,000 pounds can break free. Though it seems to break the laws of physics, it is simply manipulating them. Not really. Nobody who understands physics thinks that a rocket violates any law of physics. (Indeed, one might use this question as part of a very coarse test of whether someone understands physics). The second law of thermodynamics isn't merely some bit of conventional wisdom.
iisdan Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I am not late to this because the heat death hasn't happened yet & there is still time. Idea's: - Compress portions of the universe and stir up inside energy using less outside energy. - Slip into another dimension and avoid it all together - If the universe is expanding, creating new matter and energy, then keep traveling where new energy is being created and gather it - Somehow manipulate the force of black holes We just need to brainstorm outside the box & realize that new information may disprove it all together or bring more solutions. Any more idea's? No matter how ridiculous they might sound? A ridiculous idea could snowball into a bigger idea with some group brain storming.
Mad For Science Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 You are assuming that human beings will still be around that far into the future> We may either: 1) Become extinct. 2) Move to a different universe. 3) Evolve into a different species and will no longer be considered human. We may evolve beyond our need for physical bodies.
