How do you make chlorine gas from bleach? I've heard mixing it with acid or mixing it with sodium bisulfate. If there's another thread on this, please tell me about it.

bleach and ammonia... but do not do this!! It is very dangerous. Chlorine gas will kill you, if it gets the chance.

You may want to review another currently active thread at SFN regarding "Healthcare in the US" before you go too much further. ;)

NO!!!! do NOT add ammonia to bleach! you will end up with all sorts of Nasties!!!

Chlorosamine, Hydrazine etc... NO!!!!!! NEVER EVER do this!

to get Cl2 from NaOCl you need HCl, and they then react to give Cl2 and H2O and NaCl (table salt).

by the reaction: NaOCl + HCl --> Cl2 + NaCl + H2O

That's funny! :)

I plan on doing it outside.

This is like watching a train wreck in slow-motion!!

Melvin, I sincerely hope you don't do this. If you do, after everything that's been said, I hope you haven't passed your genes along to the next generation. Seriously, you selfish bastard, think of all the people who will have to suffer for your idiocy!

Sorry Phi For All! I don't wanna be that selfish bastard!
Whew! I was hoping that would get your attention. ;)

I can't stress enough how dangerous, even outside, any amount of these gases can be. insane_alien was NOT joking when he said it only takes a small amount to hurt you. And with gases you may not feel the damage right away.

DON'T SCREW UP YOUR FUTURE!
