mk_2007
Hi guys. I recently ran a gel electrophoresis using agarose gel. I digested plasmids and genomic DNA. however, among this I digested Drosophila genomic DNA. On my results photo, instead of bands all I can see is a faint white smudge all the way up the lane. what happened ? and how do I interpret this? gonelli
Was all the genetic material (plasmids, genomic DNA and Drosophila DNA) in the one well, therefore all along one lane? And did the "faint white smudge" only show up on the test lane or was it seen in the control lane as well?
mk_2007
the white smdge was in a lane with only digested drosophila. the control lane didnt show this smudge.
CharonY
That's how digested (or sheared) genomic DNA always looks like. Just approximate how many restriction sites the Drosophila genome might possess, and what sizes these fragments they may have.
xingli98
do you run a genomic drosophila DNA as control? I am currently also running a undigested total genomic DNA. I found two small bands with total genomic DNA band. Do you see such small bands?
