Science guy Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Describe two differences and two similarities between these three types of algae: diatoms, a Volvox colony, and brown algae. diatoms, a Volvox colony, and brown algae all are polysynthetic algae and are common to freshwater regions. They are all different in many ways. Diatoms have a unique, glassy cell wall that actually can be used to make glass. They produce a key source of food in all aquatic environments. They store their food reserves in the form of an oil. Green algae has a cellulious wall and propelled by 2 flagella. Volvox is a colonial green algae. Each Volvox colony is a hollow ball composed of hundreds or thousands of biflagellated cells.
ecoli Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 What exactly did you need help with? If you just need to describe these three algae in a sentence, then it looks right, in a cursory glance. Did you need to expand the information more?
