-Demosthenes- Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 Does anyone remember anyone getting banned?? Or any moderaters or other people like that, do you remember every having ot ban anyone?? Just curious. Cool.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 Look at the forum stats section. Its' in there, I think. I saw a list around here. Many were banned.
greg1917 Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 Loads of people have been banned. Some for excessive cretinism (adam). Some for being porn bots. Some for using abusive language because their crackpot blackhole theory was dismissed by more intelligent learner. (black holes being one of a number of examples). Some for using abusive language for the sake of it. Others for various reasons. As mods we use a 25 point warning system. If members commit offenses they get allocated a number of points depending on the offense. When that totals 25, a ban results. read the site policy page for more.
fafalone Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/hall.php The ScienceForums.net Hall of Shame!
-Demosthenes- Posted March 4, 2004 Author Posted March 4, 2004 "impas Banned for idiocy exceeding the comprehension of even special ed teachers. " HAHAHAHAHA, what does it mean to be banned, because you can send them a PM I noticed, is it their screen name or thier IP address that is banned?
fafalone Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 A banned user cannot access the site at all until they figure out how to delete their user name from their computer; if they figure that out (or are particularly malicious users), their IP address is banned from reregistering. So while the PM link is there, they would never actually see a PM. Most banned users registered with a fake email address, so you couldn't contact them that way either. There's some more information about banning the FAQ.
-Demosthenes- Posted March 4, 2004 Author Posted March 4, 2004 I just noticed that the link was there, and wondered why.
YT2095 Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 as tempting as it may be to say "curiosity killed the cat" it`s not exactly fitting from a Science standpoint, but having any contact with banned members is not generaly a good idea
-Demosthenes- Posted March 4, 2004 Author Posted March 4, 2004 I just wondered why there would be a link to send them a PM if they were banned, that's all. I'm not trying to contacted them and plan the downfall of the science forums.
YT2095 Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 heheheheh you couldn`t do that anyway the rest is probably just the way the sites code works, I`m more than sure it COULD be entirely deleted if someone wanted to waste more effort on these idiots though
