Hi

I have a question about dbl-displacement reactions. When you write the net ionic eq but both products are soluble, how would you write the equation? Or would there be no equation?

Thanks

If there is no precipitate produced then there isn't any reaction between the reactants, so you can't really write an equation for it.

I think insane_alien was refering to when you have a single salt in solid form and then dissolve in water, which would then require puting [aq] after the two ions from the salt.

actuall i was assuming that the solutions were initially seperate and then mixed as the OP said there was a reaction.

if the two solutions were already mixed then it would be pointless as the reaction would have already happened.
