JohnB Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Cmac22, Edtharan's explanation covers it. Trying to visualise how it all happens is sometimes difficult. (It took me a while ) Where it can get fun is visualising that you are at the centre of the Universe and at the same time on the circumference of the great curves of spacetime. No matter which direction you look, if you could see far enough, you would see the back of your own head. It's so easy to think "Well, once I'm half way round I'll turn left and get to the edge of the universe." Whereas of course you are now on the circumference of a different circle. Others here, like Martin, deal with this type of thing every day and I'm sure they have no problem with it, but I find I need to wear earplugs when thinking about the universe.
