Mr.Chockuls Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Hi, What are they? can you create them in a home laboratory? why they are called sulphured mustards? thanks, i read something of wiki's page.
ecoli Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I don't know, but if it's anything like sulfured dried fruit, I'd be interested to know.
YT2095 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 or are you asking about the natural mustard oils that contain Thio compounds?
aj47 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I think he probably means the group of compounds used in chemical warfare.. ie mustard gas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mustard_gas
YT2095 Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I hope not, those types of compounds are really quite nasty and Very unforgiving! not to mention that doing so would likely break more laws than it`s worth counting! as for a Home Lab, there are Easier ways to win a Darwin Award!
Mr.Chockuls Posted January 27, 2008 Author Posted January 27, 2008 yes, i was reffering to the warfare mustards but, i don't want to break any law, it was just for curiosity, because it's a strange name for a warfare compund, i mean, what have to see the mustard with the sluphur, just the color i think...
Fuzzwood Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 According to the link, it smelled like mustard
DrDNA Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 I was taught in grad school that the mustard part refers to their propensity to cause blisters on the skin and irritate the lungs. I also saw in the link that mustard refers to the smell.....hmmm... In any case, breaking the law would be the least of your worries. Like several other agents of chemical warfare that were banned by the Geneva Convention, these are not too difficult too synthesize, but really, really nasty.
Mr.Chockuls Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 yes, according to the info. they are nasty, and dangerous, thanks for all guys
