Cap'n Refsmmat Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 I'll see if I can dig up a good blog statistics plugin.
Paralith Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 I've stopped getting the 500's now. And yes, I'm curious to know page hits too.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 I've stopped getting the 500's now. And yes, I'm curious to know page hits too. I just installed a WordPress statistics plugin. Go to Plugins in your admin panel and enable FireStats, then head over to Dashboard->FireStats and you'll be able to see your numbers. (It only starts tracking when you turn it on, so you'll probably have 0 when you first look.) I meant on other websites As long as you don't get them here.

antimatter Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 The time delay is a deterrent to keep spammers from using the blogs and to limit blogs to quality members. I may lower it to under a month sometime. We'll see if there are any problems and work from there. You should lower it to three weeks to see what would happen, I don't think there would by any spammers in a three week delay, 1-2 week maybe though

antimatter Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 that would make sense, I generally don't know much about the whole spamming thing... I'm not even really sure why people do it

antimatter Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 They're 35 year old virgins and they blame it on the internet. (it's really WoW's fault though) Brilliant. If I could give you any more reputation points, I would
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 I'd have to work on that. I have the means of getting the data together, it's just that I have no system that can display it. I'll hack something together. ...and, done. http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/bloglist.php Have fun.
ecoli Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Thanks cap... for putting so much time into this stuff, especially.
swansont Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/bloglist.php Don't be shy about adding some or all of these to your blogroll. Not sure if there's an easy way to do it; I think there's an "import" function but I haven't actually used it. edit: and I'm interested to see that some of the blogs haven't been updated since 1999.
ecoli Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 edit: and I'm interested to see that some of the blogs haven't been updated since 1999. weird... that's before the internetz, isn't it?
swansont Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 weird... that's before the internetz, isn't it? <cue Grandpa Simpson voice> Let me tell you about USENET ...
Klaynos Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Well, SFN came about in 2002... And before this there was no world, let alone Internet...
blike Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Cap'n FTW. We should redirect blogs.scienceforums.net to that page.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 Done. I'll add a "Get an SFN Blog" link there and some text for explanation.
ecoli Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 It's interesting how the page is arranged so that the best blog is at the very bottom
swansont Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I'm getting an error when I try to upload an image to my blog. It's possible I haven't attempted this since we went to the new server. Unable to create directory /www/blogs.scienceforums.net/html/wp-content/blogs.dir/21/files//2008/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
swansont Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Can't upload a picture to the blog. First attempt since the server disappeared on Friday. No error message — it just sits and churns, like 100 kB is too much of an effort to even try.
