Sisyphus
Fidel Castro announced his retirement from the presidency of Cuba. The embargo worked!
iNow
Wow. It will be very interesting to see where this goes. His brother, Raul, is assumed to be the person who will fill the slot, and he is supposed to be more flexible and practical than Fidel. I'm still scanning news releases to learn more. If the embargo worked, then so did the bay of pigs.

His brother, Raul, is assumed to be the person who will fill the slot, I just heard over the radio that that is what happened.
ParanoiA
Fidel Castro announced his retirement from the presidency of Cuba. The embargo worked! So can we start buying their cigars now?
CDarwin
So can we start buying their cigars now? Not until every last Communist cigar maker has retired too. I wonder if Raul has the charisma to keep the government together without Fidel. He's still around for now, but when he dies I have a hunch that Cuban Communistm will too. Severian
Fidel Castro announced his retirement from the presidency of Cuba. The embargo worked! Was that sarcasm? There was no casual connection between the embargo and Castro stepping down. Even communists get old. It will be interesting to see if the Cubans are willing to sell their principles for American money and luxuries.

Pangloss
Hehe, I think it was sarcasm -- you guys know Sisyphus better than that! And the OP met with quite a chuckle from this South Floridian.
