Ligz
Can specially denatured alcohol (SDA) be substituted with water in making linen spray? Currently, i make it using SDA, Fragrance, Tween 20 (or 80), DPG, Fixative and add some water just to make it cost-effective. Is it possible to sub the alcohol w/ H2O w/ no negative effects on the end product?
DrP
Hi. I don't actually know the answer to your question, but no one else has answered and I am a formulator so.. If you don't get a yes no answer from anyone else, could you try and knock up a few test mixes with different levels of substitution in them, say 20%, 40% 50%, 60% 80% 100% and then test them out to see if they still perfom desireably? In other words - experiment with it and see if it works? Regards.
Ligz
thanks for your reply DrP! the solution turns cloudy even when you add just a little bit more of water than what should be added. also, it's the alcohol that dissolves the fragrance, so maybe my query was not valid in the first place. thanks again!
